Potter Encyclopedia in Progress

J.K. Rowling has updated the F.A.Q. on her website to say that she has started working on the long-promised Potter Encyclopedia.

She says, “for a long time I have been promising an encyclopedia of Harry’s world, and I have started work on this now – some of it forms the new content in Pottermore. It is likely to be a time-consuming job, but when finished I shall donate all royalties to charity.”

Big week for Potter fans!

J.K. Rowling New Adult Book Details Revealed

Details of J.K. Rowling’s new adult book were revealed last week. It is called The Casual Vacancy and is a “blackly comic tale of small town politics”. From The Guardian:

The story is set in motion by the unexpected demise of Barry Fairweather, a stalwart of the town’s parish council who dies in his early forties.

Pagford’s chocolate-box façade hides a town riven with strife, and the struggle to replace Fairweather “becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen”, with “teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils,” the publisher said.

As the election to find his replacement unleashes “passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations”, the novel puts Pagford’s rivalries under the microscope.

It is set to be released in September of this year and will be published by Little Brown Books.

Pottermore FINALLY Open to the Public

It was supposed to have happened last September but Pottermore’s doors have finally been opened fully. Confirmation emails are still taking up to 24 hours to arrive and after that you have to wait for another email to let you know that your account is ready but then you’re in. I’ve had a look and the extra information she provides is awesome!

Harry Potter Ebooks Finally Online

Many months after their original intended launch, the Harry Potter books are now available in Ebook format through Pottermore.

Potter Actors Roundup: Emma Watson

Later this year we will see Emma in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a movie about a boy struggling with first love, the suicide of his best friend and trying to find a group to fit in with. At the moment though Emma is filming The Bling Ring, about a group of teenagers who track celebrities in order to rob their homes. The picture here is the first to be released from the set. She is also in pre-production for Your Voice in My Head, about a writer struggling with personal issues.

Potter Actors Roundup: Rupert Grint

Rupert is still in the process of lending his voice to the upcoming Postman Pat movie, due out next year. He also has several other projects in pre-production: The Drummer, a movie about the last six years of the life of the drummer for the Beach Boys; a movie about Eddie the Eagle, the first English ski jumper to enter the Winter Olympics, in which Rupert plays the title character; and what appears to be a horror movie called Cross Country. These are all also due out next year, so it will be a busy time for Rupert.

Found this on YouTube. Brilliantly edited, very powerful.

Potter Actors Roundup: Daniel Radcliffe

Now that Woman in Black is out, Daniel is busy filming Kill Your Darlings, a movie where he plays gay poet Alan Ginsberg. The movie is a biopic based on the true story of Lucien Carr (played by Dane DeHaan), who was sentenced to first degree manslaughter after killing an older man who was obsessed with him. The movie is currently filming in New York and is due out next year.

More from the Potter Actors Roundup tomorrow.

Jamie Waylett Jailed for Taking Part in London Riots

Former Vincent Crabbe actor Jamie Waylett has been jailed for two years for taking part in last August’s riots. Jamie was caught on camera drinking champagne stolen from a nearby Sainsburys that had been broken into. He was also pictured holding a petrol bomb but claims that he disposed of it in a rubbish bin and the court cleared him of intending to use it.

Jamie was previously convicted of growing cannabis in 2009, for which he was sentenced to 120 hours of unpaid work and his character dropped from the final Harry Potter movie.
